Screw in tyre, can I get it repaired?

I have a screw in the rear Tourance tyre of my 1150 GS and it is slowly leaking.

The tyre is only a couple of months old with less than 2000 miles on it and I am keen to repair it rather than buying a new one as the bike is used for commuting.

I remember seeing a patch with a little 'willy' that would go on the inside and plug the hole.

Any advice and possibly a tyre place to go in SW London is appreciated.

It depends where the screw is in the tyre ?? If it's in the actual tread and not on the edge towards the sidewall then yes it probably could be plugged with your description Whitchurch is basically a small rubber mushroom plug you push in and pull back to plug the hole and get the value of your tyre usage ,I got a kit from MandP on line and have used it once in France on tyre and covered more than 2500 with a tyre plugged without pressure loss so all you have to do is get a tyre plugger and get on with it ,good luck :thumb2
 
Plugged my tourance with stop and go kit 2000 miles ago lost no air since contemplating Alps trip on it next week. Go for it.:thumb
 
If you want piece of mind take it to your local tyre fitter - if they can repair it they will if not they don't. The tyre plugs are only meant to be a temporary fix - 6000 + miles left on I'd want it right.
 
I put plugs in 2 tyres which both had low miles, rode on them both until the tyres were worn out. One I rode on around the isle of man !!!
Never any problems. They were the BMW type plugs that you use blue glue.
Repaired at the roadside and simply forgot about them.

I've had at least 6 punctures over the years on Tourances and though I have plugged them with the Stop-n-go mushroom plugs on all but one occasion successfully. I've always struggled with the steel braiding of the tyre, trying to get the plugging tool in the hole. On the last occasion the tyre had only done 200 miles and try as I might I could not get it to seal. When I took it to the dealer for perminent repair, he scrapped it as the steel braiding was damaged.

Sunny Jim gives good advice. You can't beat the piece of mind a perminent repair will give you. While I would be happy to plug a tyre with a temp repair and ride on. I would never advise others to do likewise.

I had same with a 2 month / 2000 mile Road Attack rear last month on the 1150GSA, took to my local tyre specialist [Buckley Tyres], they sent to Conti, £35.00 4 days ~ Warranted repair, so now have spare:D ready to go. Peace of mind well worth it.
