hi does anybody know what size sd card i can go up to for garmin 2610 only got 128mb in at the moment cant get anymore routes to load as pps is stating waypoints memory full thanks

2gb certainly were ok when I had one, and was enough to hold Europe CN on it.

But that isn't your problem :blast IIRC there's a limit, maybe 500, of waypoints the GPS can store. Go over that with a new route and it isn't happy. So, you need to delete some waypoints eg speed camera locations, and then try downloading your routes.

Don`t put a sd card in a 2610, they take a compact flash card :blast :D
I`ve got a 2gb one in mine and it`s big enough for all Europe as John says. You can get a Sandisk one for about £15, for that price I wouldn`t get a no make one.

re cards

cheers lads the routes im trying to load onto gps is the route sir whatton put up, its the camps sites for france, now i know the limit is 500 waypoints but i dont really want to delete the camp sites as we dont know which one we are staying at is there another way of loading routes, will be sticking with san disk

2610 SD card limit

I believe that 2GB is the limit for this unit. It will apparently allow the use of larger cards but you have to be as clever as Whatton to enable it to use it.

The Version 2008 maps of Europe now exceed 2Gb.

As I live in Guernsey I have loaded most of the continent on one SD card with "Southern Europe", anthing south of me, and another with the UK and Norway etc.

Thanks for the heads up on Version 9 and all its problems. I'll stick to V8 which is not brilliant but allows you to place a waypoint at the tip of the arrow, which is what I need.

I bought a 2nd hand Nav II a few weeks back, it came with a 1GB card which worked fine.

I have just bought a 4gb from eBay and tried to transfer my maps over but I get the error message 'Map set approx 3080mb but only 2048mb available on the destination.'

Just checked the card in my camera and its defo 4gb and not a 2 (thought I might have been ripped off on eBay)

So, am I correct in thinking that the unit is limiting the memory to 2gb? If so can anyone explain the workaround to enable more memory did a search but didnt return much..... :thumb2

EDIT: I know I could just transfer the maps I am most likely to need which is way less than 2gb and then upload mapsets as required but thats not the point.

Thanks chaps....that`s what I also needed to know( I thought that because the map of Europe was almost 3.5Gb plus I `d get a 4GB card and dump them all in there)..so off to order a 2GB card so I can at least put in most of southern Europe.Doh!!

Now....next question...any sources for 2GB Flash cards for the 2610????

:)

Try 7 Day Shop.

ISTR that spending the extra on a fast CF card is a waste of money as this is related to the write speed and is more relevant to devices such as cameras. The 2610, in the main just reads from the card so a slower and cheaper card is just as good.
