Wanted to to to Talbot Street in Nottingham yesterday, so put the address into the search and it would not find the road in the list of streets, even when putting nottingham and the post code into the form. Ended up going to streetmap.co.uk then manually locating the street before creating a waypoint. Occasionally have this problem with finding addresses. I'm using the latest version 6 release, does any one else have this problem ? Have you found a way round it?

Seems ok in CS7 mapsource 6.5.
Hit Find.
Address tab.
Hit Reset.
streetname 'Talbot'
scroll down to 'Talbot Street'
City 'Nottingham'
Find...
Bunch of streetnumbers in Talbot St.

I think resetting, and only putting the unique bit in for the name first helps it.

It works for me too. Follow ianf's advice, and you shouldn't have problems.

We really could do with Garmin/Navtec getting to grips with postcodes, both here and abroad because finding addresses in Europe is a nightmare

I'm pretty sure that the reason Garmin's Mapsource doesn't 'key' on postcodes is that it was developed in the USA. Zip codes in the USA cover very large areas - unlike the 10 or so houses a UK postcode would identify.

It seems unlikely, then, that they'll make much effort to change the search facility unless there is strong pressure - which isn't going to come from its largest (home) market...

It might have been because I did not have enough matches allowed. I had it set for 10, when I increased it to 20 then I could find it. Strange thing is if you type Talbot Street it does not go straight to the match, in fact it won't find it at all, you can only match on Talbot:confused: Thanks for the tip, thought I was doing some thing completely wrong, must remember just to search on the first part of the address and then allow enough matches to find the result.

Andrew.
