Seat Cover

After 120k + miles the rider seat cover is starting to split. Thinking I might get Lee at Viking seats to sort it out.

There are a few seat covers on EBay, but they have seams in places I would think would be uncomfortable, so just wondering if there are any suggestions for a replacement.

FWIW, when the seat on my 1100 gave up, I bought some leather effect vinyl, unstapled the original, used it as a template and stapled the new vinyl on using an upholstery stapler.

When i say "I", I actually mean my wonderful partner who is quite good at these things. I don't think it's a job that requires years of training, just a bit of patience.

Just had my 1150gs seats repadded and the rider seat lifted about 1.5 inches. Both recovered £80 .

Great job no compliants well comfy....

I would think at that mileage the 'padding' must be well past its sell by date, the seats tend to become plank like well before that. As suggested above a re-upholster and replacement cover is probably the best way ahead.

+1 for Tony Archer. He did mine with extra padding and repaired the cracked seat base as well very neatly. Very reasonable price (£90 including postage) compared even with used aftermarket seats

Already have a loose sheepskin that I use sometimes. Great on long trips. Given to me by a Swedish mate who uses one nearly all the time on his Indian.

I've just recovered the seat on my 1150gs adv. I bought the cover from ebay and it was only about £35.
It came with guide marks on the inside of the cover to line it up with.

I also wanted to raise the seat a little so I cut up an old memory foam pillow and put that under the new cover.
With the use of some spray glue to hold the foam in place and a hair dryer to help stretch the cover,it all stapled in place very easy.
The whole job took me about an hour and a half.

I'll have a look back through my history and let you.Its a very copy of the original silver and red adventure cover

Greenlaningxt if you type this number into ebay search box the same cover should come. 371183493309

For those of you who've used the sheepskin covers. What's the advantage? I'm interested in the idea but also have the idea that if it's pissing down while the bike is parked you'll have a seriously sodden seat to welcome you. Or am I missing something?

Bootleg upholsterers in preston lancs did mine, the original foam was a disaster.new foam new fabric and lowered, fantastic job,if ni could fathom out how to send pictures on here i would show you.
