Im going to apologise in advance for this question, because there will be someone out there who thinks this is a stupid question, however I dont.....

If I'm 5ft 9" tall, with an inside leg of 30" or 31" how near am I to being able to sit on the bike both feet flat on the floor. Or is there anyone nearish to me who has one who would be prepared to let me just have a sit on. I have tried to find seat height and did a google search for R1100 GS/R1150 GS seat height but the answers i got back were not that helpful. I also tried to find a localish dealer to me who might have one, but that wasn't entirely successful either.:blast:blast

I'm sure somebody will be along shortly who knows the answer to my question so here's hoping. Like i said at the start, no question is a stupid question if you GENUINELY dont know the answer. Here's hoping I havent offended any of you more sensitive souls:type:hide:hide:hide:hide

:augie:augie:augie

Ta very Much (again!!!)

This is a bit like asking someone else if your shoes fit you.

Every bike is a bit different depending on suspension settings etc.

I am 5`9" with approx 29" inside leg, I manage standard 1100/1150s just fine, though I did initially find it a stretch GS owndership seems to have altered my shape :D

According to BMBikes, the R1150GS has a seat height of 840 or 860mm.

I'm 187cm tall with an inseam of 32 (Levis jeans) and I can sit on my R1150GS, off the centre stand, with the saddle in the high position, both feet easily flat on the ground. I also weigh 120kg, so that may help lower the suspension a bit :D

I find the low seat height very cramped (even the high is a bit cramped on longer rides)

But, as Steptoe says, it's a personal thing.. go find one and sit on it.. BMW's website has a used bike finder:

Cheers,

Im about 5'7" with an inside leg of around 32" with boots on and can only just touch the floor with both feet and no chance of flat footed! I weigh less than 12 stone so not much body weight to compress the suspension I guess.

I have a recovered standard height seat in the lower position at that. I also have a low BMW seat but its not as comfy so its sat on a shelf but im still not flat footed with that :)

You get used to the extra height and bike weight after a bit, when I pull up I just put one foot flat footed and other on peg, just like they instructed ya on your bike lessons :) Only thing I cant do is sit on bike and reverse it but I manage.

I'm 5'8" with an inside leg of 29". I can just about flat foot my 97 r1100gs, with my bike boots on, but not my normal shoes (with seat in lower position). With the panniers loaded it's much easier.

I think you'll be OK.

R1150GSA

Hi,

I'm 5"9.5 with a 30 inch inside leg and can get the balls of my feet on the ground on my R1150GSA with a factory low seat. A GS with a low seat would be even easier....

Go for it.....:thumb
