Seat lock mechanism change

Yep, very easy except sometimes the lock barrel can get stuck in the old unit, in this case just carefully hacksawed out the barrel (without damaging it) as the lock mechanism unit plastic is very soft and easy to saw.

The barrel will then slot straight in to a new mechanism.

The metal clips from the lock barrel hold the barrel in the lock unit.

The problem I had was that the lock barrel had worn into the plastic lock casing (from years of use) so I simply sawed carefully in two places down the length of the plastic barrel housing to release it.

It would be quite difficult to damage the lock barrel such that it can't be fitted to a new unit, although if you want not to leave any marks on the lock barrel (for cosmetic purposes) its a good idea to saw gently and in stages.

Bollox to all the sawing nonsense - To remove the lock barrel undo the two small screws alongside the barrel, prise the plastic holder apart, and with a small screwdriver at the rear of the now exposed lock move the tab down thats holding the lock barrel in place. And out it comes.

I've a special tool that removes the whole lock in 5 seconds with everything in place . But i'm not going to give any details on the internet. :D
