Seat to footpeg height query

I currently have an F650GS and test rode an 1150GS the other day. Very nice but with the seat on the low setting I find the gap between the seat and foot pegs too short making my knees higher and less comfortable than the 650. Has anyone lowered the footpegs and noticed any significant detriment?

I would raise the seat height but I was on tip toes as it was.

No problems, I went from F650 to 1150GS, and the first mod I did was to drop the footpegs with a Verholen kit (which includes bits for altering the gear and brake levers to suit the new height). Vast improvement.
