But to answer Jon's query
Before the Melvyn I tried:
OE Dual seat - VERY SHITE
OE Single Seat - SHITE (Better profile seat but too low, too soft)
Touratech Single Seat - NOT SO SHITE (taller, firmer, but still only 1 1/2 hours comfy)
Wunderlich Dual Seat - NOT SHITE AT ALL (right height, right firmness, maybe a gel pad would improve TTNB)
One of our number who has a Sargeant Saddle was complaining of discomfort on the ride back from Snowdonia, whether that was the seat or the Farmer Giles I can't tell ya
Obviously all my experieces are from the real GS and may not count
