Just been looking on MCN's website and amazingly the 1200GS is the 8th most advertised bike, more popular than the humble Fazer!!

I suppose it was always going to happen given the number of new bikes they've been selling in the last few years. Will be interesting to see how residuals are affected now that they've achieved commodity status alongside the jap crap.

Probably not the best time to try and sell a GS..........

Full List:

1.Yamaha R1 (YZF-R1) (298)
2.Kawasaki ZX-6R (241)
3.Honda CBR900 FIREBLADE (229)
4.Suzuki GSX-R750 (228)
5.Suzuki GSX-R600 (221)
6.Suzuki GSX-R1000 (215)
7.Honda VFR800 (214)
8.BMW R1200GS (211)
9.Yamaha FZS600 FAZER (206)
10.Yamaha R6 (YZF-R6) (201)

The main reason there are so many bikes for sale is the people that only keep their bikes for a couple of years. With BMW Select this makes it a lot easier.
I brought my 1200 last October with 4560 miles on the clock with 2 owners, it's now done 19670 happy miles, but I'm now looking to trade it in for a new bike, alothough it won't be a GS

Its been pretty apparent in fs&w. Loads of newish bikes. Several adv's as well

mines an 05 with 28k on the clock so I reckon its worth SFA - 10%

Really enjoyed your write up on the gs vs gsa:thumb. As an aside did you have any reliability issues with the gsx ??

It had to have the slipper clutch ramps lubed at the first service apart from that absolutely nothing, no breakdowns, no corrosion, really just as it always should be:thumb

Lots of bikes sold so there are bound to be lots of second hand bikes for sale. The interesting question is what proportion are being sold to buy another BMW or adventure type bike, and how many are reverting to Jap. There always was a fashion element in the GS boom.

Will be reverting back to a Honda in the near future. Only because of the reliability issues Ive had with my GS. Great bike when it starts. Need a reliable bike , so Honda does it for me. Notwithstandig this I accept that numerous owners have had no problems whatsoever with their GSs and I am 100 percent jealous of this. However it looks like a Varadero or VFR for me in the future.
