Theres some of you out there looking for replacement silencers. Heres a few ideas.

The carbon cans are great for racing - they're light - apart from that they're no good for prolonged road use - ie 3-5 yrs +. Why ? well the resin used in the manufacture goes brittle with heat and sunlight resulting in the carbon splitting and cracking.
Ok for occasional track use though.

Aluminium ? Ok as long as its at least 16G for strength. Also.very prone to corrosion and oxidisation - goes dull unless you constantly clean and polish them. Best to get a clear anodised one if possible.

Titanium ? Probably the best long term choice. Light weight, tough and corrosion resistant. Looks trick as well. Will withstand constant heat and usage - make sure its re-packable cos the baffling will go long before the casing. Expensive, though

Stainless ? Prabably the best overall all rounder. Not light, but lighter than stock. Should keep its finish longer than chrome and alu. Can be electro polished after a few years if the internals are also st st. to clean it up. Try and get 304 or 316 grade if possible to minimise long term corrosion

If you are looking for your second silencer and already have a secondary pipe, then a company called Zorstec will make you a Titanium silencer with st.st baffling for £180 plus vat to your dimensions - ie length - inlet tube dia -std outlet.
