Because I have mounted my 550 on the upper windscreen mount and access to the security screw is now nigh on impossible (apart from being bloody fiddly anyhow), I have just ordered one of Marco Boelis' thumb screw replacements:

http://www.boelis.nl/index_bestanden/SecurityscrewEN.htm

I assume that Marco's kit is a simple replacement for the standard screw but, try as I might, I can't remove the standard item.

Am I missing something here

I have used the supplied driver to unscrew the damned thing and then it just rises to a certain level and won't go any further.

Any help will be gratefully appreciated :bow

Cheers all

There is a small rubber washer on the screw body to stop it dropping out.

Once you've undone the thread, you can get the screw out by pulling it gently but firmly with a pair of pliers or something.

You then want to get the rubber washer out, which will probably be sitting just inside the bracket. Easier to do if the bracket is off the bike, otherwise a bit of a fiddle with a small screwdriver should do it.

Hope this helps
