Okay, I've read the posts and the poll, so before I spend the money, please offer your opinions.
I want running lights, ie use all of the time, which will thus provide additional night time illumination for those country lanes.
And during the day perhaps allow Old Aunty Dolly to spot you.
1. Unlawful? yes, I'm serious, have you seen what those points cost on your insurance renewal?
2. Bulbs blowing - every mo'cycle I've fitted them on destroyed bulbs in about 4 weeks - any ideas? - comments?

I'm thinking maybe a pair of mini-spots on a bar.
Feedback please folks.

Jonny.

Oh, I see, so you want some lights now do you, you'll be after knobblies next:D
You should have no problems finding stuff about aux lights on this sight, try using the search thingy, you'll soon get bored of it all:rolleyes:

Halford's spots (about 40quid with relay and loom) on a simple bar wired to always come on with the main beam simple and very effective.

Support these with Philips plus 50% in your dip and main and you'll have the best value for money route to better lights.

I've chossen not to have seperate switch because when I want extra light I want it NOW... making progress at night requires the ability to switch it all on or all off in an instance.

I hope this helps

O K not quite the answer perhaps your looking for, just installed Hella ( check out their website ) lighting Kit as follows:-

1 )Hella Day light running lights ( 2 No @ 6 w each ) wired to be on with ignition, and off with main lights.

2) Hella spots ( again 2 No ) to back up dipped beam, switched independently via Rob Farmers switch gear ie controlled via indicator cancell switch.

All attached to a Migsel bar .

Wired up by Premier Bikes Didcot.

Seems to be a good comprimise and works ok for me, that is provides acceptable daylight running lights that get you noticed without being too annoying to morons ( sorry drivers ) and decent a dipped beam to suppliment to the appalling original lighting set up.

Lights

Just fitted a pair of Hella FF50 fogs wired to dip and a pair of Hella 50 Spots wired to main a La Gazza's wiring diagram all mounted on a MiGSel light bar. Brilliant.

The law and lighting regs is a well copmplicated piece of legislation . But what i can tell you is that if you were unlucky enough to get stopped for having too many/not enough/ wrong position etc etc by some misunderstanding snot nosed probationer cop, THER IS NO POINTS ON YA LICENCE!!!. Worst case scenario, vehicle defect rectification form or a £30 FPN ala using fog lights in good visability/dazzling other road users (Dazzling hot hatch drivers IS acceptable!!)

Hope this dispels your fear of points!!!

Richie:D
