Seeking opinions...GS or Dakar ?

Yes but that doesnt count for much when its on its side. It hasnt got those sticky out bits to stop it going right over. Great bike though.

No problem Pastyman... as long as it's the right side... errr mmmm the left side

Poke around in the paper for used ones - and try those out.

Sorry, but my mate wouldn't pose as a prospective buyer just to try one out. Hard enough to sell a bike privately without having tyre-kickers taking advantage.

Got any friends that have them? Buy them lunch - they can usually be talked into letting you try their bike out.

That's a possibility as two friends are not long home from doing the Pan American Highway. Although I know I don't let anybody ride my 1200, so I don't see why they would want to let my mate (who is very inexperianced) ride theirs.

What I think is going to happen is that he will just be happy to go for the ordinary 650GS. I think the more road biased bike will be the better choice for him as the above mentioned points of centre stand etc are more suitable for his needs.
