The screw in the picture is seized. I've tried WD40, an impact driver and a threaded screw removal tool. Still refusing to budge. Has anybody got any ideas or tips?

Standard Steptoe and everyone else reply

Find a suitable torx bit which is slightly too big. Hammer it in, & unscrew.

Drill it out as Andi-Archers says. Only sensible thing. Right now you have a nice centre for the drill

Drill it out slowly ,a bit at a time, or the heat build-up will melt the plastic.....somebody once told me:augie

Plus Gas penitrates and eats rust not WD 40 leave overnight or longer if poss wetting it a few times
Tap it quite a few times with the right size allen key torx = should work = patience first - hammer or drill out second
Good luck

Impact may have not helped.

Looks like screw in undertray. Obviously that gets a lot of water and dirt so likely threads corroded and rusty. I think that one screws into a c-clip, but I could be wrong.

Options now are to use something else to unscrew it or, if it's still stuck, drill off head. Personally I would try to unscrew it as may be a ball ache to unscrew the threaded portion after drilling off the head. Steptoe advice sensible

Started to get a bit of movement with the steptoe method. Moved maybe 1/4 a turn so I've soaked in WD40 and will come back to it tomorrow. I'll have to get some Plus Gas. Thanks for your help all!

Brake fluid works great, too, as a penetrating oil substitute. Depending where it is I’d be careful drilling it out if you don’t want metal shavings in whatever is under that bolt. Drilling works great tho - gotta be patient, and careful not to touch hole threads.

Cut a slot in it and use a large flat head screwdriver

as here - wd40 does nothing Plus Gas works

a good hard whack, often on the plasticine fasteners means you can knock the head back to the shape its supposed to be (before some animal using cheap tools and not holding it square has kackered it), then they undo just like they designed it

Pleased to report it is now out!
What a relief. It's it a boy or a girl?

What worked? So many suggestions above. Intrigued to know which you opted for with too many to choose from!
