I've got two Streetpilot 3's to sell on, how do I or the new owners go about registering the maps and unit as they are allready in my name? (they will probably go to two seperate owners)
Thanks

I'm not sure that Garmin want to know about this....

Give them the disks, and the unlock codes for their GPS's and it'll all work... (Mapsource and the maps unlock to the GPS, then work on any computer)

Not sure how they can save on an upgrade to the maps though... Plus Each Data set comes with 2 free unlock codes... maybe by having the first one, they qualify to use the second?..

Sorry not much help here...

It is always well worth the new owners registering the products in their own name with Garmin. If they ever need to use the technical support helpline then at least Garmin will know who they are.

I bought a second hand SP III and I registered it in my name by going onto the Garmin website in the Support section.

Same here, I emailed Garmin Tech support and told them the registration code from the yellow slip that shipped with the unit, they then registered in my name and sent me the upgrade CDs.

Have a 2610 that I bought 2nd hand. I wanted to update to V9 software but when I tried to register, the unit was already registered to the previous owner. The official line is that Garmin require you to unregister the unit and register it to the new owner.

When I contacted the previous owner (I bought the unit last year, but thankfully still had his contact number), he could not remember his login details for MyGarmin. I needed to get a letter from him to the effect that he had sold the unit to me and that it was okay to switch the registration details. Garmin Tech Support then switched registration to me. Took a bit of time, but worked in the end.:thumb

Noel ya git,

If you sell these units its best for the guy who buys them to get a letter from you confirming that you have sold them to him. I know this because when I bought my 2610 its what I had to do to get help from Garmin.

Thanks for helping the other day by the way.........top man and the bike ran as sweet as a sweet thing up the Yorky moors last week.........:thumb

Thanks for the replys, I'll include a note with the units then!
Hey Bronco, no probs mate glad it's running well, you can't beat it when they run on song, the just seems so more usable smooth power. Must meet up in a pub some time!:beerjug:

Bought a 2610 from this site and tried to register it upon arrival, only to be told it was already regisered,

Phoned Garmin explained the situation and was told that the previous owner has to de-register the equipement first which can be done in a couple minutes over the phone
