Hi everyone,
My wife and I were due for new helmets and as we love Arai that was easy we got a pair of Arai Corsair X, got the on the other hand we kept hearing from friends that we have to move to Bluetooth from the old cable system (Baehr) rider to passenger. First ride today with the new Sena 20S system feels like if we wasted $550 and not happy about them. The sound in a slow speed is very echoey and in a higher speed she has a hard time to even understand me because the sound becomes so distorted and no it's not the accent! 😏
We did play with the settings and was reading what some other people said online but nothing has helped. If there is anything that we could do please advise us… I am using the boom microphone that was originally installed on the unit in a full face helmet.
Thanks.

This may or may not work!
My SMH5 sometimes plays music from my Zumo at a terrible quality. Making sure that my Iphone connects to the Zumo 1st then connecting the Zumo to the headset makes it better.

If you have anything else connected to the headsets try connecting them up in a different order.

Have you ensured the ear pieces are in line with your ears? This could account for the echoing you're experiencing.

they replacing the boom mike with the smaller one thats designed for the full face lids,( booms are designed for flip ups) The full face mike is smaller but sticks to the inside of the chin bit , this keeps it out of the way of any up draught coming into the lid.

You should take note that you have got one of the best BT systems available and it will come good when its set up correctly

Are you just using them to chat with ? If you are thinking of listening to Music , purchase a Sena SM10 BT stereo hub, this streams music form a iPhone ,iPod etc to both your lids . Great little gadget

Have the same Arai helmets for myself and wife. Small microphone (not boom) working well so far, though not used at high speeds yet, only local low speed runs.
I'm almost certain to use a set of audio earbuds (have a set from my Apple Ipod shuffle with smooth rounded edges) that can attach to the 20S because besides having audio intercom/phone music/satnav direct into my ears, they'll also act as earplugs lowering wind and road noise. Means the speakers will be 'off' though which in turn, means no radio, but I can live with that.

A group of us have these sets and find them very good, but do have little idiosyncrasies that you have to get used to.

Try unpairing them and starting again. If this doesn't work and the echoing is still there, then turn one off and back on again, this tends to work quite well for most issues, and can be done on the run.
My Zumo 590's music sometimes sound like Pinky and Perky are singing it, and it can stutter................ On and off with the Sena cures it.

Good luck.

I am willing to bet that the poor intercom audio quality is down to your pairing procedure.
Sena prioritises audio streams according to the type of audio it thinks is playing (eg. phone takes precedence over music and intercom. Intercom takes precedence over music etc.) It identifies the type of audio based on the pairing configuration and the order in which items are paired. It then attributes one of two types of bluetooth connection (AD2P and HDR or some such). One is much better quality than the other and is designed for voice and music - the other is for GPS or speed camera warnings etc.
If you reset both 20s units to factory settings (see manual) and then reconnect your phone, gps, devices and the other unit in the right order you will find a big improvement.
Which order you do it in depends on which scenario fits - there is a list of different ones and appropriate pairing procedures in the back of the manual - choose the one that suits and follow that.

Thanks guys for your help..Had the microphone changed and going to put paddings on the speakers and take it for a ride...I also will make sure the pairing is done correctly and keep you posted, the retailer is offering a new one on the warranty but I would rather get this one working in a right order than changing it if there is nothing wrong with it.
Cheers!

Might be worthwhile checking and seeing if there is a firmware update too. Mine was brilliant prior to some bellends knicking my bike along with my lid in the top box

Thanks, for the advise guys,
I changed the microphone from the open face version to the full face and also added some padding on the speakers it's been a huge improvement, high speed it performs great... still little echoey in the street stop and go and it also picks up some engine noise...I think I will have to cover the microphone with little bit of padding too. Or learn the adjustment of the microphone!
Cheers
