Hi all,

I was trying to set up my kit yesterday and ran into e few problems

Firstly, can the BMW navigator 4 be linked to more than one Bluetooth device? So far it appears not as I have to choose between iPhone and com system!?:nenau

Secondly, making a few test calls last night using Sena paired to iPhone and the other person can't hear me yet I can hear them in speakers :nenau could I have a duff boom mike? I've checked all the wires and it all looks ok. Brand new out of the box as well

Thirdly, navigator 4 can detect the Sena headset but constantly says connection failed :blast

I have google searched and searched on here but can't find specific answers :(

I've read instruction book and downloaded Sena manual but there is no fault finding section

Any ideas where I might be going wrong?

Thanks chaps

I don't know but why do you need both paired to the navigator? Why not pair the iphone to one Sena channel & the Navigator to another?

Microphone positioning is quite critical, it has to be close to your mouth and pretty much in the middle, you need to be able to "kiss" it. If you've mounted the unit too far back on your helmet then the mike might be to the side of your mouth. There is also an arrow on one side of the boom mic' make sure that side faces your mouth.

If the iphone pairs with the Sena straight away then I suggest its a Navigator issue but I have an 8 yr old 2610 which is non bluetooth so you are on your own with that one Jon.:thumb

Yes, Zumo 660 / Nav IV supports dual pairing. I pair my iPhone 4S and my Bluetooth helmet headset to my Nav IV at the same time.

Have you :rtfm....?

Hi chaps and thanks for the info. I have read the manual... Several times :( but I'm not even getting to the passkey stage. It just says connection failed even though it's registering / seeing the Sena :nenau

I am doing this off the bike but can't see why that would make a difference to the Bluetooth connection.

I'll have another go tonight but have a feeling the boom mike is poop as I had it touching my lips and the fin was facing away from as per instruction manual.

Cheers

I was trying to Bluetooth music from the navigator to the headset and I know it has to be in the cradle for that but I didn't even get a pairing :nenau

Once I've got the nav 4 paired to the Sena I'll pair the iPhone to the nav 4. Maybe it has to be in the bike cradle to operate Bluetooth connections but that seems odd. I know it needs to be in the cradle to stream music though.

I'm A bit concerned about the mike but I guess I can return it for another :(

Sena support will sort you out. Very helpful. Also there are a number of videos on their website you might find helpful :thumb2

+1 .....a mate had an early Tom Tom that wouldn't pair with his new Sena. He called Tom Tom support and they were no help and told him that the problem lay with the Sena not the satnav and he would NOT be able to pair them.

So he contacted Sena support and they explained there were some slightly hidden menus within the Tom Tom and that he just needed to change a few settings within it, sent him some screen shots etc on how to do it and voila ....paired .

:nenau the 660 doesn't have a cradle but has bluetooth all the cradle does is add a few buttons :nenau

Ahhh you would think wouldn't you but after reading into it the Zumo 660 will stream music to your bluetooth headset on battery power. The BMW Navigator IV has to be in the cradle and powered externally to do the same  :blast

I have the BMW Navigator 4 which has a different cradle with some extra buttons and functions but its essentially a Zumo 660 rebadged with a bit of extra trickery inside :)

Good news though...... I've got it all up and running. The pairing had to be done in a certain order :eek .... ie.... Phone to Nav4 then Nav4 to Sena headset :blast

The mic is now working but only if I fiddle with the connection and when I do that one of the speakers cuts out so a dodgy connection me thinks :( I guess I'll be returning it for a new one as it's faulty straight from the box.

Had a play today on way to the Ace and the music was good enough for me and that was at 80mph with flip helmet in the up position. Voice directions from the Nav was very clear and good warnings for the safety/speed cameras as well. :thumb2

All in all the Sena SMH5 headset is a great bit of kit for £89 delivered. I know I have a dodgy connection but I may have ballsed that up myself by trying to to plug the charging lead in the wrong hole :blast They look the same :(

Thanks for all the tips etc. I'm now in the 21st century :bounce1

Yes it does. It has a small wire that unplugs.

I think the SMH10 has a permanently fixed boom.
