Hi Folks,

I recently posted about how to determine if tank sender switch was kaput !

Well having had the unit tested it showed all the signs that it works :D

Can anyone suggest next step ? I get no bars shown in lcd fuel gauge and the

low fuel light continues to stay on when more than four litres in tank.

Many thanks Mack....

Hi Folks,

Seems like no one else had this problem then ? Strange I thought

fuel gauge's play up and not work across the whole range of GS etc.

Any input would be better than none :)

Many thanks Mack....

Hi, dunno about the fuel light staying on. But I've had my fuel gauge showing empty prematurely. Look below the petro; tank on the R/H side, under the plastic cover. There should be a rectangular terminal block, split it & spray a suitable (WD40 ACF50, etc.) onto them ,and reassemble. Hopefully should cure the bar display. But as your low light is playing up, it may be something else.

Bugger, just noticed that yours is an 1100, but might be the same?

If you have tested it and it works maybe you have just got it caught and it won't move.

Sounds silly but this happened to me once after changing the fuel filter. But it stayed at full tank rather than empty.

Just an idea

Hi Eliminntor & Richie,

Yes many thanks for the suggestion's, yes I do have the

rectangle four pin block I can give it a good clean on reassembly.

Just waiting for the fuel filter and O ring to arrive then I will check out the

arm and float to see if they function correctly.

Thanks for the input

Regards Mack.... :)

Sorry - can't help you Mack but I'm watching the thread closely and when you sort it out and tell us what it was I might possibly get round to having a go at mine which is showing full even when empty! Mind you, if two of my previous cars are anything to go by my inherent laziness will probably result in my 1100 meeting its maker before the fuel gauge gets fixed :(

Chris

I will keep you posted if I ever find out meself LOL...oh well back to

the grindstone, I'm sure it will get sorted one way or the other...

Regards Mack.... :)

read my post and stop being lazy. you have a trapped float :rob

Hi Both,

Well maybe you're correct, but I certainly ain't be resting on me laurels with ignition key ass completely ripped to shreds (ie some t**t tried to nick it and hot wire it) next no alarm so I have rewired to include isolator switch, next the bike I think has been keep in a sewer for ten months so most of my time has been spent with different substance's getting it half decent and all alloy and wheels a right state. So the list goes on !

Today I have received my bits, tank O ring and filter, speedo drive and head gasket .

The reason I have not stripped it down is because I had two readings, when checked with multi- meter and with a drop of fuel in tank it gave the impression it was working fine ! so I shall open it and check its not stuck.

I shall report in due course.

Many thanks Mack.... :)

Hi Folks,

Well I never or words to that effect, float was the cause tis registering

now ! It was not stuck but had fallen off !!.LOL...

So hopefully me low fuel light will now extinguish, soon to find out.

I am amazed at what is connected on the back of the plate almost everything

bar the kitchen sink LOL...

Regards Mack..... :)
