I'm stripping the back subframe off the engine for powder coating. I believe the brake lines will fertle through without disconnecting. But. It's got me thinking about making the back brake manual only.

I don't really like linked brakes though apart from disc wear on the back, the BM system seems ok. I can happily live without rear ABS. It's over-aggressive anyway. I don't want to lose front ABS. Or F-up the controller.

If I was to connect the rear master cylinder direct to the brake. Can I simply plug the input and output ports on the ABS unit?

I'm reasoning that with no input from rear master cylinder, there will be no output. However that doesn't account for the linked brakes output.

Has anyone done this with no damage to the ABS?

The guy on the world tour seemed to have got away with it. But has anyone any tech knowledge of this mod?

Slight aside but how linked are the front and rear brakes? Is it a bit like the old Honda? system where applying the back brake also applied one of ther front discs but not the other

I can't test mine now.
But the mot guy checked the back was linked by spinning the wheel and pulling the front brake. I'd happily lose the link even if that means no ABS on back.
The link below says it's front to back. Rear brake pedal has no effect on front brakes.
