Just read the service cost thread and now feel i have been ripped off by my local dealer as a 24k service has just cost me £390 . (£266 Labour £63 parts +VAT) Am i right in thinking that this price is a bit steep or is it just me bieng paranoid????

:anger

I will not name them (yet) but I am in the Midlands.

A 'good' price for a 12k service is about the £200-220 mark. That's assuming you haven't had any other work done, or they're not combining a 12k with an annual etc.....

Mike:)

Over here in Belgium that sounds a bit steep... Last time I had BMW service the bike it cost me £200 and that was a major service.... Still there was nothing wrong with the bike so there were no surprise parts...

OOPS ! :homer
Just checked the invoice again and the annual check was also included but i didnt think it would make that much difference on a 24k service.
The most I ever paid to have my ZRX1100 serviced was £250 but that was 3 years ago!

I think £390 is steep unless you had tyres fitted at the same time.
But BMW operates a 'fixed price' serivcing schedule, so the only difference between dealers should be their labour rate.

It's also worth checking their attitudes to brake pads. One dealer I have used changed the pads every service 'just in case I started using them heavily between services'. Another I have used said they tend to change the front pads every 24k. This can make a big difference to costs.
