Having just moved to Bromsgrove can anyone recommend somewhere to get my GS serviced? prefer an independent (cheaper?),

or just a few minutes down the Bromsgrove Highway you could go to Knotts at Redditch their website is http://www.knottsmotorcycles.co.uk/ They are HonKawaSuziYama dealers and a good bunch of lads.
There's also Action Motorcycles in Redditch, a Triumph dealer, I have no personal experience of their services I'm afraid.

as you are in Redditch any chance of a bit of advice? viewing a couple of houses in Callow Hill later, whats the area like? anything I should know?

You could go up to RGM But it is a bit to far I think, Its about 150 miles. Depends on how far you want to go

Andrew Williams(Ned) is well worth letting loose on your Bike !!!
He is in Drakes Broughton. He will do it on the side !!!
He is a flat twin nut and looks after all my bikes ......... that includes both my GS's my 80/7 my VFR and my Pan. You will not find a nicer and skilled bloke.It's a labor of love for him. He is originally Honda trained has city and guilds everything and to call him bike mechanic is an insult
I regard him so highly that even though I need the service book stamped on my 13k worth of Pan I still let him service it and then gert the dealership to cast an eye over it and stamp the book........yes it costs me more money on one hand, but i'm extremely fussy about who touches my bikes.
