David, I get my GS serviced at Wessons at Horam (yes that Wessons :D ). The mechanic there does an excellent job and even managed to tune out the backfire from my Y piece and standard exhaust.

Highly recommended.

Cheers

Dick

Brian Giles in Tunbridge Wells is also very good.

Ex head mechanic from L&C before they ditched bikes.

Uses all BMW kit and his workshop is tip-top, price is very competitive and he has a free loaner.

Do a search on on here for his details.

Agreed about Brian Giles. Had my 1200GS 12,000 mile service done and the bike has never run sweeter. Very reasonable but the great thing is you feel you can totally trust this guy. Even though I live in North London I'll continue to go there - for the foreseeable future anyway. And he'll usually provide a courtesy bike too.

Yes Mark Holden is a fully qualified B*W mechanic, he is also privvy to all the updates as two of his best mates are still in the emply of B*W Mark will also service other makes of bike.

Brian Giles

Telephone is 01892 823514. He is the best BMW mechanic I have found but I am stuck with BMW dealers due to warranty

Remember that now, so long as the work and parts are up to OE standard, the law says your warranty is good no matter who does the work.

Mark Holden will only use genuine B*W parts as he says it's not worth the risk or hassel with patern parts !!

Very interesting... Just wondered if anyone had tried this in practice with BWM? Thinking of extending the warranty, not so enthusiastic about local options after the demise of Prestige :(
