For those of you who haven't heard, via his introductory letter or otherwise, Brian Giles (the ex- L&C senior motorcycle technician) is now running an independent servicing set-up (based in Pembury i think). Can be contacted on 01892 823514 or email brian-bgm@fsmail.net
I'm not connected with him in any way, just passing on information received!

Yes, L&C, despite their assurances at the John Deacon open day a couple of years ago, are shutting down their motorcycle bit.
Always found him very helpful at L&C.
Hope he nicked all the special tools from the work shop!

Nothing to do with L&C Howard. They are being sold. And there is no market for the bike business.

Too many wankers buying 8K bikes and wanting 50k Car levels of service.

The only consolation I have is that the wife has just rejected a 530SE and bought another Scooby Doo......

She liked the BM, just didn't want the kind of service I have received. Especially as she pays for it.

EH ?? Are you implying that a motorcycle doesn't warrant a decent level of service ? ANY motorcycle, seeing as 8K will buy most things these days ?

what price level does decent service start at ?
lets see - some cars are less than 10k - so do they expect it ?
or is it just motorcyclists ??

what on earth are you saying ?

if i spend ANY money on ANY vehicle- i want what i pay for in respect of service. - i'm paying for the service not admission into an exclusive club !

Phil

When most BMW dealers are charging close to £60 an hour for labour, I don't think it is unreasonable to demand a high level of service for that level of money.

PS Well done David. With one ill thought out remark, you've probably managed to offend the vast majority of the members of this forum.

Putting the mockers on it!

This evening I've discovered that the oil has migrated out of the gearbox that "Brian" rebuilt at L&C and has filled the bevel box. Causing said oil to piss out of the breather, all over the rear tyre.
TWO EFFIN' THOUSAND MILES!!!!!!!!
The previous rebuild at L&C (Brian??) lasted 16k.
I'm not implying anything here of course, but you make up your own mind.
Perhaps it's best that they have shut up shop.
Maybe Brian will be able to take more care with his work not being under pressure to complete a job in a specific time.

Watch my lips - ya should've gone to Crays, bloody good mechanics, do the job properly and 'only' £32 per hour labour rates (which is good to know with a labour intensive job like this).

2000 miles :nono
