Not being at all happy with the standard of service from our local BMW dealer in Rennes, especially when my beloved F650gs came back from it's last "service" with the rear chain adjusted as tight as a bow string, my other half decided to do the job himself. It soon became clear that the bike had had very little done in the way of servicing despite some pretty hefty bills over the years. The air filter still bore a date of 2003, from when the bike was new, the valve cover had obviously never been off for adjustment checks, and the battery was bone dry, I suppose they thought "lady rider, she'll never know" The big problem came when hubby tried to replace the spark plugs as it was clear that these also were the originals. They just refused to budge despite liberal doses of penetrating fluid, and not wanting to break anything he has left them in place for the time being. Does anybody have some ideas of how to shift them ?

Hi sorry to here about your level of service, but it happens the world over dont think that you have been singled out, you might get more response at www.f650.co.uk ..in my experience they seem a very knowledgable bunch. You can also down load a service manual off this site too from memory??

Good luck and let me know if you find a way of removing spark plug succesfully :thumb

Really long lever... so that you can gently apply lots pressure...

There is a nasty trick... which is to get the engine hot... and smoetimes that helps to budge them... but sometimes not....
