Anyone using SHAD luggage on a 1200 lc Adventure?
Got them on my S1000xr and wondered how wide they’d be on a GSA

I think everyone using stock BMW plastic luggage is using SHAD as it is made by SHAD in spain I think...;)
Otherwise why not use the better looking origionals ?

I have ally luggage but SHAD stuff is lighter and doesn’t need a ton of scaffolding.
I have the panniers already as I use them on my S1000xr, would only need the mounting rails

I'm using them on a GS, which is pretty much the same at the backend as the GSA. However, I've gone to some lengths to fit them close the the bike. This involved fitting a lowered exhaust - one from an RT on my 1200, and a modified GS exhaust on my 1250. It also requires extensive modifications to the Shad mounting brackets/frames.

If you don't want to do any of that, then using the standard Shad GS mounts they are pretty wide, the right pannier has to fit outside the exhaust, and the left one is further from the bike than it needs to be. Here is how they look unmodified:

For comparison, here is how they fit with the mods I've done, which included replacing the GS passenger pegs with GSA ones as the supporting prong for the front of the GS Vario panniers is part of the passenger peg assembly, and gets in the way:

Im intrigued by this, I have a set of 1200RS rails (traded for the GSA) so if the GS ones need messing with then this could be a good starting point.
What did you have to do to achieve this? I have no issue with lowering the exhaust. Dont suppose you have your old RT one?

I do have the RT exhaust, but not totally sure about letting it go as it is quieter than the modded GS one which is a bit noisier than expected. In any case I'm in Spain at the moment and won't be back until June 3rd, but it seems you are not far from me, so you would be most welcome to come round sometime when I'm back, and have a detailed look at what is involved.
