Hi I have not posted for sometime but noticed this evening that the shaft just behind the gaiter was warm. I am sure this is regarded by many as a stupendous d question but I would be thankful for an answer. Thanks. Johnboy

I'm really worried as mine is always stone cold. In fact it usually has a thin coating of ice on it like those pumps for trendy beers you see now.
If I'm in need of breakfast I can fry eggs and bacon on mine, much more useful than a cold lager.

It's a gearbox with an over-used brake attached (ABS bikes anyway) so of course it gets warm.
