I Plan on keeping my 1200 so thats not open to discussion. Having been off roading for a couple of years now on the 12 and the last 5 months on my DR350 I feel like I`m wanting more.
Can you take the HP everywhere I can take the DR? I dont want to have to compromise on the routes I take because I`m after a bigger/different bike.
Clearly a lot of it is talent related and that is coming on gradually.
Just curious on all your thoughts.

get one you'll love it.... or hate it full on 100%.

there's no middle ground.

:thumb2 I like mine it's a mad bit of stuff.

If I manage to get out this weekend (admittedly it's a low chance ), you can have a whiz on mine. Or next time we're out.
You can take it up Monsal Head :green gri

Cheers Spout, that would be good. Your brave letting me take it up the HEAD. Had a go at Bamford cluff on Saturday and loved it. :thumb2

The Hp2 is a great bike, you can take it to most places but there will be places you go on the 350 that the laws of physics come into play:eek: I use my 'berg on the tight stuff and it's drop proof. The sauce has a wicked front brake and it can bite now and again, the one thing i dislike is the front resevoir which is way too easy to smash, i am on my third and carry a spare one, fluid and bleeder........trust me i know what its like getting it out with no front brake. It needs a metal resevoir fitted. But when the track is rite and you are in the groove it's a balltearer:D

Just in case you need any further encouragement, I just wanted to add my perspective. I've only been riding a little less than two years. I bought the HP2 last summer as I was thinking about a 1200 for commuting and trips but also wanted to learn off-roading. The HP2 done it all and been great at it! Two up trips to France and Ireland, commuting to work every day, and getting dirty whenever I get the chance!

Sure, there are times when the weight makes you seriously consider whether you should attempt certain trails - mostly because you're concerned about dragging it of some rut or mudhole out on your own. But I think that it is so well balanced it handles the slow technical stuff really well as well riding trails at speed.

There's a whole bunch of pics of me getting in to trouble here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jasemarkos/
