Shark Oxo flip over helmet

I’ve had 2 shark lids. Didn’t live up to the hype. They always seem to get a great review. But don’t live up to it. JJH

I’ve got 3 . The OXO is fabulous. So good that I might sell my Neotec 3 that I’ve worn twice .

Following @Motocentral ’s advice I got the Nolan N120-1 (identical construction) instead plus better colours AND SBS had a colour I liked at nearly half price. Although I subsequently discovered a Sena cheapo intercom I already had won’t fit (speakers too big) so had order an N-com to fit afterwards and missed on the no vat thing in intercoms.

I’ve adjusted the headlining and done the specs mod to the cheek pad and it’s great. First outing was 2x2hour rides on Wednesday over to Masham to meet JB and Sy and it was as comfy as a comfy thing. Noisy where the sun visir control do-dah is though.

I guess colour choice is a personal thing but some of the Nolan’s look gopping to me

The construction is similar but not identical .

Got a concrete colour OXO earlier this year and it’s my go to lid. Fitted the Sena for Shark intercom too and listened to Radio 2 last night on a wee run up to the North Coast.

The flip feature is super easy to use and I find myself flipping if getting fuel, entering a town, in slow traffic etc.

I find it as comfy as my C5 pro.

Do they fit true to size. On the Scorpion Exo techs I have I find that after a while the "normal" size I have pinches in at the ears when closed. Went up a size, especially when fitting the JBL speakers

Shown it to wifey on Sunday at SBS. She’s interested… but since she was nursing a headache (migraine) she refused to try any helmets on. Ohh well, there will be another time.

My very old Neotec needs replacing. I tried the LS2 version at A&D but it does not fit. I sit betwixt L & XL.
Popped into Demon Tweeks today whilst passing Wrexham. They stock Scorpion but do not have the flip back helmet. I tried on the Oxo and the fit is okay. I like some aspects such as the lining and flip back. The drop down visor mechanism is fiddly and complex. The latch to open the chinbar is also a bit fiddly. I guess you would get used to them.
My main concern with the Oxo is the chin strap ratchet. It is plastic not steel like the Shoei and the latch seems flimsy.

How are owners finding the chinstrap mechanism?

Finding the chin strap ? Usually around my chin . Works fine but I must confess to not looking at it under a microscope.

Seriously?
Probably the easiest I’ve ever used . Slide a bar to lower the visor to your desired level . When done with it , press the button next to it and it retracts in an instant .
Can you tie your own shoe laces ?

I’ve uploaded a video to explain this fiddly and complex manoeuvre. Watch it in small segments as it’s very complex 😜

you really are a supercilious cock of the highest order

Have just finished a couple of thousand miles riding with my new Nolan N120-1 but slightly disappointed that its got to go back as the latching release buttons have basically become u/s which means its a real fight to get the chin-bar to release. Hopefully, I've just been unlucky with this one as, in every other way, its a great helmet.

I tried the Nolan on in Infinity in Gloucester a few weeks back on the way to a ferry. I bought the Halvarssons gloves recommended on here as they price matched Motocentral at £90. I decided to procrastinate on the helmet until after my trip.

Your link above is for one of the 2024 colours in the Ncom version. The 2025 colours are a lot dearer with names like Classico and Lineo, and priced up to £380 for posh colours. I spotted this 2024 matt black one for £210
https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/925547 - seems I had the last one in XL as only in S now.
I had a 10% voucher from Devitt from buying insurance and they honoured that even on the sale price. Quite happy to get a flip back job for £189. Arrives Tuesday.
