Sheepskins from £35. Picked a white one up from Oswaldtwistle Mills in Lancs at weekend, enough to make two seats. Dyed it Black, and my hands! :(

After hearing about the wonderfull properties of sheepskin covers here and on other forums I bought one. Tried it in anger at the weekend, 300+miles in one day.........
Result ? .........what a lot of pish! no difference to comfort or time till a numb arse, waste of money. Tho it might make a good polishing mop.

A more expensive (£150 rider + £130/£140 pillion!) but totally reliable / adjustable solution is the Airhawk.

These started off in medical use to relieve pressure points (I think for people in wheelchairs) and have been adapted for use on motorbikes.

I borrowed some a couple of weeks ago and was amazed at how good they are. I didn't want to spend a whole heap of cash without a long ride on them first :)

For those of you who want the celebrity endorsement, these were used on their World Record ride by Kevin & Julia Sanders and currently by Ewan McGregor on his Long Way Round tour.

Internet BMW riders review is here:

Airhawk's own website
http://www.airhawk.co.uk

They are going to be at the BMF if anyone wants to see/try them

I've just realised how much that sounds like an advert! I'm nothing to do with the company nor do I get anything from them I just think they are worth considering especially with our British weather. These are rubber and don't soak up the rain like a sheepskin!

Expensive - but I reckon worth it if you want to do serious mileage.

Or the cheap version, £35.99 from M&P

Sheep skins

Being based in North Wales, one of our butchers has sheep skins for sale, and i think they roll in at about £25 quid, but dont take that as gospel. I will endevour to get some prices from our local farm suppliers and the butchers if people are interested.

North Wales, at last may have a use.. :)

I've always found it useful for getting to Holyhead to catch a ferry to go to Ireland. ;)
