Decided it's time for a new lid and at the local dealers they have a Shoei Raid I on offer at about £100. Is there much difference between the Raid I and the Raid II?
The raid II costs about £275 so it's a big saving.

Anyone ever bought a helmet over the net? Seems a bit dodgy not knowing what has gone on during the delivery process i.e. whether the posties have played football with it!

Apart from paint designs, I believe that there were changes to the vents in the Raid 2.

As long as the helmet isn't ages old, and has been stored properly, I think it'd be a good buy - so long as you're not a fashion freak who wants the latest.

I have bought over the internet, but only after going to a dealer to try the helmet on to ensure that it fits. Very few (if any) people will allow you to send it back if it doesn't fit, because they can't guarantee that the helmet hasn't been dropped, etc etc etc.

As for it being damaged in the post, it'll pay to examine the box carefully to see if there is any damage and if there is to reject it.

Make the delivery of an undamaged helmet in an undamaged box part of your contract.

Shoei Raid II

I just bought a Raid two from the Big bike book for £169.00. They also do the Raid I for £99 these are plus about £7 for p+p. I've used them and customlids before with no problems. The BBB allow you to return lids so long as the stickers are still on, but you pay for it yourself. However they do not recharge you for p+p on the replacement item, not bad. :thumb

Having just seen your address (and apartments) I don't know how much they charge for postage abroad.
Cheers

Just got a raid 2 - top lid but cost me £200 damit!. Previous was an XR800 also dead good and served me for 8 years plus the black visor will fit the new lid. £100 for a raid one sounds like a bargain.

Always sworn by Shoei... bought a Raid I for £99 after having a XR900, and I just cant get on with the new one... the foam is far too tight on the cheeks (chipmonk style) and the padding round the ears is so tight that it pushes against my fitted ear plugs... I did the classic mistake of trying the one off the shelf that had obviously been on lots of heads, then taking the spanky new one home which feels totally different... get one with removable lining too so that you can have the foam reduced (by specialists) and your able to wash it...
