Tried my new Shoei hornet out today, lovely until I reached 40mph then the peak rattled and droned like hell,if I put a finger on top of centre peak mounting all is quiet, any one solved this problem before I start experimenting with bits of sticky backed foam! Thanks Jonathan.

It depends what's rattling. On mine, I've fitted thin clear plastic tube, slit open, around the edges of the peak where it mounts to the helmet shell.

However, it might be the slide that closes the top vent that's vibrating. On mine, I've bent a small plastic-coated paper clip to fit and glued this on top of the vent closer. This stops it from vibrating and makes the whole mechanism feel much more solid.

Pics to follow.....

Thanks for the fast reply Schtum, it does seem to be coming from that area, have checked all screws for tightness but will try it with out trim piece fitted over air vent.Only bought it because I was getting blured vision with Tour X3,seem to have opened hole new can of worms!:([/QUOTE]

Likewise, although there are also things you can do to a Tour X to improve the blurred vision problem. I've just fitted a Tour X 3 peak to mine and stiffened it a bit and that's helped a bit before I move onto the next stage.

My rattling came from an area to one side of the peak, because one side rested firmly against the shell and the other rattled. Can't remember what I did though even though I sorted it. Sorry

I have strategically placed some stickey backed foam in various positions under the offending peak, will report back after next test ride!.Seams ridiculous to have to do this on a new £330 helmet.:mad:Thanks for all the replys though.
