The ride up was chilli but very bright. The sun was shining as i headed up the lane toward the car parks. As I approached the road was white with two tyre tracks cut through ice..

Any who have ridden up the logger heads road to the carpark, will know it was a little steep toward the top so, couldnt stop to turn around.. just tottered up the top gently and then over and down the other side..

Stopped to enjoy the view. The clwydian range and vale of clwyd.

A view back toward the top.. the sun had melted the snow and frost on this side..

Another view across the valley.

Oh and just to prove it was ice out,, one of the frost.. hung on solidly in the shadows, but sun had just enough heat to melt it.

And finally another from across the road..

The seat and new camera are working out a treat..

Well headed down to Ruthin, then through to Denbigh for a quick stop at A&D Motorcycles and then a quick trip home.

Hope you liked the photo's..

Nice day up north

Looks like a nice day up north , Would'nt mind going up ther myself one day,
lovely views over the valley.

Did anyone see all the gs's on the M 4 today along the margam strech, Was there a rally of sorts, or were a few of us making the most of the good weather, seen 1100gs with a side car in blue & silver that was new to me.

Never seen one of them before'

Was in sunny but chilly N. Wales yesterday (Wed) myself. Out to Bala for brekkie. Over to Trawsfinnid (sorry for the spelling). Cricceth castle photo opportunity. Then back to Snowdon for another photo stop (got three faces of Snowdon). Out then to Woods for a coffee and home 200miles in all. Lovely.

A4212 Bala to Traws - lovely road

Used to work at the Power Station at Trawsfynydd for 2 and half years. Used to love that road from Bala to Traws.

Do you know the road the opposite way over the Berwyns to Llangynog and Llanfyllin? Prime route into North Wales from Worcester if you are on two wheels!! Can be interesting in winter though.

Took me a while to learn to spell Tra... Tr, the name of that place correctly

Cheers
Neil

Trawsfynudd road = safety camera heaven..

The road past the power station was purposely made straight to increase the responce times for emergency services when it the station was built.

The dips in it and rises, allow for perfect hiding spots for the "http://www.arrivealive.org.uk/ Safety Camera vans and police static cameras/lazers. The good old police helicopter do like that road too, as they can easily see the bikes and cars for a very long way..

So lovely road, but watch the old speed..

There is a great mountain bike track near there, with several routes of varying difficulties for those two wheeled peddle power fans out there.

Gold in them thar hills

The bike tracks being talked about are I guess the ones in Coed y Brenan, a forestry area between Dolgellau and Traws on the long straight road (yes it is speed trap country or deer on the road at night country). You might not like Bala (or mountain bikes) but you could probably put up with the gold mine (true) in the woods!

New seat..

Cheers Septic.. looks good, but still getting used to it. Its narrower than the standard seat but a bit firmer.. liking it so far.. :thumb

I used to ride out with a few lads and the only place they ever went was bala......if you was lucky maybe barmouth...........they only rode the roads that they knew really well, so they would look good.........so i kinds got fedup with the area.......

There is so much more..

Hi Janie,
There is so much more to see.. you shouldnt give up on it.
Bala and barmouth do get a lot of bikers visiting and a lot of people do stick to the same old places, but there are so many backroads to ride and other places to see as well, it would be a shame to write the hole area off...

John..

road round lake vyrnwy that was very pretty then over a mountain pass........towards bala..loved that...........my problem is i just don't know the area good enuff to go and play................as i have a habit of gettin lost................

Get lost..

Getting lost is the easiest way to discover all the nice roads and places..
Grab yourself a copy of the OS maps for northwales.. tuck them into your tank bag and go for a ride.. take any roads you like the look of, and just bimble about. Thats what i do (though use a gps nowdays rather than OS maps)..

You find some amazing places, and you can never trully get lost.. just keep going and you will always find a main road up here..

Vernwy is lovely, i ride up that way about 2 or 3 times a year at least, but there are lots of other places to go as well...

Some nice back roads around llangollen, but avoid the A5, thats is dull..

How can you describe the A5 from Pentrefoelas to Bethesda as dull? It is, IMHO anyway, anything but dull.:nenau

Easily..

Easily.. compared to the numerous other roads that are far less populated with traffic and far less scrutinised by police or safety cameras..

Personally I avoid it like the plague. Far better roads to be had else where.. In the summer its the A5 is the caravan highway, if you like being stuck behind those white polymide and plywood boxes, enjoy..! I will keep to the backroads..

Getting Lost

Hi Janie I totaly agree with Rocks getting lost can be so much fun, you find all sorts on your lost travels and is really good way to find your way around.
I get lost all the time, but hey its all good fun
