Should I be using super unleaded in my RT....

Hi All

Have got a 2012 RT - love it BTW - and have been using normal 95 unleaded in it thus far. Should I be using super unleaded in it home and abroad? Thoughts on a postcard please

Can do, it runs on either, but seems to produce a bit more umph on super unleaded especially French what does it say on the filler cap

Can I respectfully suggest that Sir consults Sir's owners manual.....oh ok. 95 is fine.

Super gives it a feeling of being a bit more pokey, I agree with the earlier post. I tend to run super cos the manual recommends it (if I've translated the technobabble correctly) as the BMW preference, but runs on either.

There is a suggestion you'll get better MPG out of the more expensive stuff. I use standard 4 * in mine & get 54.4.

I usually feed it on normal unleaded, but if im away with pillion and luggage an doing any reasonable distance I will give some super. It does give a bit better MPG and feels a bit more powerful.

Mine feels "peppier" on super unleaded - rather flat without.

I can think of no reason why BMW would make a bike more expensive to run unless there was a real reason - i.e. it makes more power.

I always use super unleaded - more miles per £ and the bike is nicer to ride. Ordinary 95RON makes the bike feel like there is a cork in the exhaust so I only use it when I cant get anything better.

Thanks, i consulted the manual and that was where the confusion first started - 95 is fine but prefer 98...

Not too far from where you lived Aberdeen, I'm near Sainsbury's in Thorpe.

Just collected my RT from Balderstons this morning. Managed to get 95 miles in and work today.

All ben said really - Super is better on fuel economy (difference between 54mpg and 58mpg) with a cleaner power delivery.

If I am on long runs I do if I am around home I dont.

I nearly did in the USA as the unleaded pump is black and the diesel one is green

What in Scotland? I know there is a devolution debate out there but didn't think things were moving that quickly!

The anti-knock function allows the engine to run on lower fuel grades, as basic as
95 RON without suffering damage (the engine is designed for 98 RON, but the
only difference when running on 95 RON is a slight decrease in engine output). from the press pack, so it must be true..........

I used to get all of the above, slightly smother, slightly better running, slightly better fuel consumption!

But not enough to make it economic, with the difference in cost between the two. If you have the money then........
