Should I bother with the exhaust extender?

I have the Zega ali panniers, and was wondering wether to bother putting the exhaust extender pipe on the back...... (only coz I don't like the look of it!)

Well? will it damage the panniers without it????

It will melt the plastic mounting and cook anything inside the pannier.

With the pipe in place stuff doesn't even get warm in the pannier.

yes from experience i'll advise you to put the thing on. Its not there just to annoy you.
