Getting really worried TT won't come up with my Zega's in time for my trip to France in September, Found An unused Set of Metal Mule Panniers £784 quids worth, £500 to me!

Should I buy them? The thing that holds me back is the F*** off bracket for the top box, which comes built in to the pannier frame, and as I'm not interested in the top box it seems a bit of an eye-sore????? :nenau

But on the other hand I do need Panniers for my trip!!!!!

How long you going for? I did the alps last year with the system panniers which was too much. This year I went back with just an oxford hump tailpack and a bum bag. Light and easy to manage. Then again, you may be camping. £500 is a lot just to carry a few bits. If I camp, the tent, bag, mat etc goes in the Ortleib bag - £17.

Soory - ignore my reply - thought you said "Do I need panniers...". Just noticed you said "I do need panniers".

Two up  , camping! Maybe around 10 days give or take, so panniers are a big need!

Bateman, just noticed your in Poole! greetings from Fordingbridge 5 miles north of Ringwood!

Buy 'em (top kit, I've got some on my 1150), then if you don't like them sell them on here? No money lost + panieers for the trip :thumb

You could always try these:
panniers for sale
Not TT ot metal mule, but a bargain!

What David said....TT are a pain in the arse and the more people that cancel orders through poor service, the more likely it is they'l eventually getthe message and buck their ideas up a bit.

The MM panniers are very nice..probably sturdier than the TT ones, and as the bearded one said, you could always sell them here for that price ...you've got nothing to lose :thumb

Get em bought , when i replace my ADV panniers i'm fitting MM one's , i'm packing now for Scottish Land and didn't realise how little space i have .It's the first time ive tented :D on a bike and nothing fits :( . Shapeshifter has a white 12 ADV and MM's on and there nearly the same colour as the tank plastic , They'll be big enough for anytrip and they match the bike , which is very important for the fashion consouse GS'er :ymca

.................................................... :D ...............................................

I've got them on my 650GS, just got back from 3 weeks in Norway and they were fantastic :) :) :)
Dont know how old the pannier frame your looking at but on the one I had delivered in June the Top box mounting could be bought seperately so I would have thought it could be removed.
Dropped the bike fully loaded on a stoney track and they didn't even dent. At that price defo buy. :thumb

metal mules

i have had on my 1150 for 18 months now, you do not need topbox carrier for the panniers but it was useful to strap the tents across. if you are near eastleigh you are welcome to have a look.

I agree that the system is great. I've seen a 650 Dakar with the Metal Mule system but without the topbox rack. Don't know your bike or the system in detail but I think it should be possible to mount without the top box rack (which you could maybe sell on?)

Why not give Metal Mule a ring and ask them?

Cheers guys most helpful,

I'm going ahead and buying them, providing there ok when I collect them next week. Only seen photos the guy sent by e-mail, but look fine!

He says that pannier frame and top box mount are all in one , I'll Take a closer look When I see them, either way I'm having them, There going on a 650 Dakar '04'

taz, That's what I'm thinking, to put the roll bag with tent, sleeping bag etc across the topbox bracket. I'm about 18 miles from you, maybe If I have any bother fitting them I'll PM you and pop down for a squiz at yours,
Cheers Ryan :thumb
