My f650 Funduro/ strada hybrid

Made from a smashed up Funduro and a ratty Strada.
Cheap and chearful

Y - Reg, 17200-ish km.
Heated grips, hand protectors, Loud single exit exhaust, low and high seat options, Datatool alarm, Large touring Scottoiler, Rear carrier, Centrestand, and a Touratech tankbag.
Has Fresh MOT for a year too.
Had it for almost a year, and did criminally little miles on it.
Bought a 1200GS again after I met a lovely new girl who likes the longer distance rides,( but she is no featherweight ) so the 650 is absolutely wasted parked up in the garage.
I also have a pair of Touratech Zega's that were destined for it, but never fitted.

What are these bikes worth in the current climate ?
I want to put mine back into the market with all its bits and the Zega's.

Yep, long time no see, I spend a lot of time on a retro car site with my fire engine and other stuff.

I never like dismantling bikes when I sell them, as that may devalue it for a potential buyer. So would prefer to say that I want £2300.00 for the bike as it stands with the extras attached,Which is less than an Aprilia Habana 125cc Scooter, and £200.00 for the Zega's if someone takes them with the bike, the Zegas alone will be a bit more
If one totals up the "extras " on the bike I suspect they will come close to £1000.00 which makes the bike a decent proposition for someone who wants to use it.
The nice thing for me is that I want to sell it, but do not need to sell it, so when the right buyer takes it, he/she will get a great bike, and I will get space in the garage.

My Dak came with a single layer of unprimed silver paint when I got it...my thighs rubbed this off the first time I took it off road...so...

I got meself a compressor, spray gun, taught myself to paint, and came up with this...and it IS all paint...no stickers...Quarryman made me stickers to use as a mask for the logos.



Not done the rear yet...will do it later in the year. Since then, I've added engine crash bars, chain guide brush guards, and a few other bits...got some Renthal bars to go in it too..panniers are in the post, and I'm off to Misano in two weeks

What were the difficult bits? My GS is ex-offroad school, as you've seen. Before I sell it I will put some nice panels on it, but in the meantime you've got me thinking of a fancy paintjob!

Just use your old panels as long as they are not completely fecked...thick base coat covers all...

The difficult bit...none of it,...but all of it...if ya know what I mean...

Advice...start with one of the "new" thick base paints for your base colour...you don't even need to prime it...the base is about 1-2mmmthick...make this the lighter colour...as the dark (thin) colour will cover easier (I did all this the other way around, as fella in new shop informed me about base coats after I'd already done the blue...but didn't tell me about how thick the base would be!!!!)

Use 2 pack paint...it's flexible and will not crack.

Get masking stickers made (quarryman will make any design you can think of) for your logo's...and if you put the base paint on first, it will not peel off when you remove the stickers and you won't have to go back with a little paint brush and fill in all the thin paint that peeled of while removing the stickers (I didn't know about base paints till after I'd already laid down the blue stuff...which should have been second, as it's the darker colour)

Two pack sets after about two hours once activator is added (even in the pot) so you have to be ready...no messing about!!!

Don't drop your spray gun on the ground, or you might need a new one as it may land on the expensive bit!!!

PLENTY OF PRACTICE WITH THE GUN BEFORE YOU PAINT THE ACTUAL PARTS...NOTE HOW MUCH PAINT IS SPRAYED AT THE VERIED LEVELS OF TRIGGER PRESSURE...THERE ARE TECHNIQIES TO BE EMPLOYED...

Clear coat finish is marvelous

If you have any questions I'd be happy to pass on what I learned...

THE MAIN THING IS PREPEREATION...LOTS OF WET AND DRY, 600 GRADE FOR FINISHING BEFORE CLEARCOAT, but real heavy stuff for nasty bits....YOU DON'T NEED 1200 GRADE AS CLEAR COAT TURNS MATT FINISH INTO A WONDERFUL GLOSS!!!!

The old panels are red, scratched almost everywhere, and held together by cable ties at some points...rather like the scar on my left leg!

I quite fancy a blue and white paint job, seeing as I'm Scottish and it's also BMW's house colours.

Decisions, decisions! Thanks for answering though. I've painted model trains before, and they're plastic too...

It was an "Ermax" screen and it was pretty god: I could ride with the visor up if I wanted.
