Best I have found is a WD one from PC world website.

£60 for 500GB

Any better deals out there?

What's it for, backup or just using like a massive flash drive to take stuff into work.

If it's backups, cheap is not necessarily best.

iomega/wd/seagate all in the 80-90 quid league.

I have a seagate and really please with it. Also... if anyone else is looking it is so much cheaper to reserve online and collect in store... I saved about 20 quid from PC world.

Indecisive... I can collect one from exeter and post it to you (FOC and special delivery) if you like... I think they have a few of the 500gb. Let me know.

Thanks for the offer :thumb2

I think I will go get it in Oxford and then I can pop into NOG as well :augie

they are as cheap as chips, just be decisive and buy one...

100%

G raid are the best drives we've ever used very nice but expensive or Lacie rugged drives are good but can be a pain in the R's cos they spin up too long after being turned off.

costs from £100 -150

The WD 500Gb is a lovely little disk drive. Small, huge and nice looking. Sounds like a good price.

Download SyncToy 2.0 from Microsoft. A nice utility to backup without encryption (You get a encryption backup tool on the Passport, but it takes an age to run a backup.) PB

Maybe I have just been unlucky, though postings on various websites suggest otherwise, but:
I have lost 4 western digital 2.5 hard drives due to Master Boot Record Failure.
In the immortal words of Oscar Wilde:
To lose one parent is unfortunate, to lose two smacks of carelesness!
I was therefore careless.
Myke

and i had a similar thing with 2 Seagates - i think it was a flakey ram problem that did it on bootup - worth checking cos its unlikely to be 4 drives that are faulty

ps WD Passport ext hd is brilliant

Seagate 1Tb Expansion USB 3.5"

How about a Seagate 1Tb Expansion USB 3.5 for 67 quid? (Dabs.com) Dont know much about memory but seems a decent price
