I have a new GSA, and have just found that when the bike is on the side stand it only takes a small push from the rear to push it of the stand (especialy if facing slighty downhill)

Has anyone else found this:nenau :nenau :nenau :nenau

Just a tip,it's worth selecting 1st gear when you use the side stand, stops it rolling forward.

I stop first in 1st with the engine still running then put the side stand down.

Only fall for this one once, thats the trick, as said leave it in gear, dropped a 12gs once, amazingly not a scratch apart from plastic cylinder protectors, unlike a k1200rs, dropped from the side stand, cost me £1100!! Gs's rule!!:beerjug:

I did it twice in the first 500km, both times just outside my garage, then I learned to leave it in first and push it a bit forward before putting down the sidestand. I compared to the Honda XRV750 I came from and the GSA took about 1/3 of the distance of the Honda to go beyond "the point of no return" so I belive it is bad engineering from BMW, but you can, as with most flaws of these bikes, learn to live with it.

Happened to me 10 days ago. I thought I'd left the bike on flat ground. When I returned it was on its side. The slope was almost imperceptible. :blast

From now on I'll always leave it in 1st.

Force of habit I always leave bike in gear.

But when taking a 1200 GS adv out for a test run, the sales guy when wheeling the bike out and putting the bike on the side stand put the bike in first gear, as it was on a small slope and said I'll put it in first gear just in case.

Past experience methinks :)

+1 Always park in gear when using the sidestand.

Some of the K bikes are far worse.
