Sidecars!

:topic Shhhhhhhhhh, you said you wouldn't split on me:eek::topic

See my thread in "Our other bikes" ref. cruisers & Brighton:eek: :ymca

Speggo, we've seen Grumpys outfit, (not sunny in Bournemouth today)
I've seen it in the flesh, hopefully the battery/ starting issues are sorted:augie

Show us yours.

Eliminator - touch wood, yes my little problems seem to be OK at the moment ;)

Speggo - I didn't realise you were a bit :ymca (or should we now say Eliminator :D ) I'm sure you'd rather hold Lin's hand :) :)

Yes it has.

At least, I know that keeping the 1150 standard except for a few bolt-on and anchor points for the 'car chassis and perhaps a second hydraulic line to run off the rear brake master cylinder the car brake. (not sure how that will match-up to the ABS system)

Main thing is that I don't have an infinite money pot, so if the ball can start rolling for relatively little, I can put on the finishing touches later.

Why not buy a Russian ready made outfit and ask Tarka which spares to stock?:)

Sidecars I love em :hide

He's not too far from us Bob - in fact one of his favourite hang-outs is a certain :ymca coffee bar down by Southampton docks (if you get my drift :D :D )

No need to, you can have a separate sidecar brake fitted on the sidecar chassis by your left foot - just like I have on mine :thumb

To be honest though, I rarely use it. In fact this is the first outfit I've had with a brake on the sidecar wheel (I've probably gotten used to steering slightly left when under heavy braking - there's a whole new world out there that is sidecarring  :D )

Id agree, TBH I have only used sidecar brakes as an aid to turning in nice and quick, never for stopping IYSWIM.

Modern bikes have brakes that are more than adequete. However, one draw back of leading links is that there is not so much weight transfer onto the front tyre when you brake so it is easier to lock up the front.

Here's a couple of useful links

Unit Sidecars

Charnwood Classic Restorations

Still think the best outfits come from the continent (France/Germany in particular). Why is that :nenau

Hello sidecar expert Grumpy Lee!

You need to tell them they need to engines; one from Mazda in the sidecar and the one that already are in the BMW! :)

(-Why two engines? Too much heavy food last Christmas? )

:) Liv.

Now that's impressive.
Liv,
I don't speak a word of Norwegian, but the number after one is spelt TWO:rob :thumb

I love the wheelie control wheels. Does it really still have the BMW engine, I would have thoughthat it was pretty well redundant with that in the back of the chair.

That front suspension looks good enough for a race car.:thumb

I have no idèa if the BMW boxer are there or if they only kept the cylinder covers for decoration. I nicked the pictures from a site in a German or Dutch or something like that.

But I do now there are motorbike&sidecars made with one engine in the sidecar and a room for luggage under the riders seat!:thumb2

And here's a w for Eliminator. ;)
(One, two, = En, to. Next lesson for you are coming next time you ask for it!;) )

:) Liv.
