Anyone considering buying the above boots beware.

I bought a pair £275.00 for a 15000 mile ride from London to Beijing from Branson Motorcycles in Gloucester. Used for about 2 months before the trip all seemed ok except for the notorious squeak. However 5000 miles into the trip the soles of the boots broke completely in half and collapsed and the pressure from the pegs was causing me serious pain in my feet. With 10000 miles to go I had to find a fix so I got a local workshop to make a thin copy of the inner sole out of steel.
This worked ok and made it to Beijing where the bike was stored ready for shipping back to the UK with all my gear including boots in the panniers.
On my return to the UK I informed Bransons and agreed to return the boots as soon as they returned to the UK. They had the boots and returned them to Sidi who had them for 5 weeks so warranty out and now finally decided not to honour any warranty as they claim its fair wear and tear.

I've given up fighting them now and given up on the boots as well.
But others beware don't waste money on these boots if you're planning a round the world trip you'll need at least 4 pairs.

Everyone else wore the BMW boots but I decided to be different never again.

That's crap that Sidi won't do anything about the soles, agreed.

But, mine are a couple of years old now, have been to the Western Sahara and back, trail ridden in, worn for two weeks in the Himalayas AND used as my everyday road boot. They are still in really good nick and look to have loads of life left - best boots I've ever owned!

mine's been used for around 11,000km in up to 47deg C temps and can honestly say I really love them!

I had a pair of Sidi's that did that some years ago. Sidi won't do any sort of repair. The uppers were fine, but the soles split in two. They just told me to buy a new set.

Won't touch Sidi boots ever again after that level of service.

Not good is it really?

Like my Crossfires, but that bloody squeak!!!!!!!!!! You'd think they would sort that out...

Have to agree that service sounds cr*p.

I have had a pair of Sidi Couriers for around 20 years ( just replaced with a 2nd hand pair on this forum ) and they were simply fantastic. Well in excess of 100k miles, all weathers and in truth not really looked after and only replaced as I had neglected to fit new toe guards and worn through the sole to the stitching.

They were 100% dry and warm and all day comfortable walking or riding.

Not all Sidi boots are bad though:thumb

I agree, Ive had my Sidi Vertigo Mega Gore-tex for 7,000 miles now and wouldnt trade them for anything else. wore them for 17 hours one day last July and even after that length of time i could have kept them on longer if needed. they are a pleasure to walk in and have never let in a drop of rain.

I know what my next pair of boots will be when these finally die :thumb

have a pair of adventures and crossfires withchangeable soles....Both boots are best that I have had. The adventures are like wearing a pair of slippers they are so comfortable. I agree the squeek can be irritating but everyone knows when I am coming..haha

My Altbergs are 7 years old, still going strong, still waterproof. probably covered 60,000 miles.:blagblah:P:D

+1 for the Sidi Adventure boots no problems so far after 20,000 miles. I have used them on / off road.

ABR

the latest ABR has done a test on loads of boots
you can guess which won :D

Me and a colleague recently did 6000 mile around europe and we both had them on. We quite often did 12 hour riding days through all weather and heat, no problems with our, maybe you are just un lucky:nenau

Will admit the service sounds crap though, and that bloody squeak!
