Reliving bike trips whilst sat at my desk....
Indecisive dad is looking for boots and has narrowed down his search to a mere 348 pairs of boots and thats only taken 18 months, so to help reduce the choice even further I have been asked to post this thread: any experience with Sidi Black Rain boots out there? Please...do tell...

Yes I have some
Comfortable and easy to walk in off bike. Waterproof [though mine are about 3 to 4 years old and leak on the gear change pad/protector stitching in a heavy down pour]. I just use Nikwax boot waterproofer and it does OK.
They are not a heavy duty boot - but that's why I like them. Not recommended if you have fat calves or broadfeet. I don't and they fit perfectly. Quality is good. :thumb Would buy again

what he said - but I have fat calves and struggled to get the boots zipped up - esp if i had thick "breeks" on.

Brilliantly comfortable and waterproof boots. Feel like a favourite pair of slippers right out of the box. However, I've had 4 pairs and there's the problem. That softness don't half make them wear out quick. Admittedly work was buying them and I was wearing them all day but eventually went for Daytona Road Star Gore Tex. 10 months so far and still holding up very well. Not as comfy admittedly but I was averaging six weeks from the black rains. However, for less intensive use I reckon they would be a good buy.

I use these and am very impressed. I find then very comfortable to walk in as well. They havn't leaked yet  but I have ridden in some crazy rain recently.

I paid £130 from Daytonas in Ruislip. You might get a deal from the NEC if your going though.

I can highly recommend these boots. I've had mine for 2 1/2 years, done daily riding through 2 winters and they have always been warm enough, comfortable and mine have never leaked. I paid £80 for mine in a sale at M&P :thumb

Very good

Mine are nearly 3 years and 30,000 miles old and really need replacing now. Looking a bit ragged and not was waterproof as they were when new.

Agree with all the positive comments above. I wore mine solidy for my 8 week 12,000 mile US trip and found them comfy enough to walk around in day in day out when doing my sightseeing off the bike.

looking to replace them with another pair at the NEC.

Another recommendation - I've had mine for nearly 4 years of 50 miles a day, all weather commuting, and they still have some wear left in them. Comfortable and as waterproof as you can reasonably expect. I'm going to buy another pair.

As I was going to the NEC I decided to have a look for a pair [cheapest new ones I found on the net were £114 plus p&p] I found them for £119, then £114 THEN found a stall selling them for £99 which immediately had me reaching for the plastic. These new ones are slightly different styling to my old ones [better] and feel even more comfortable then the old ones.
Well chuffed :thumb
