Well finally got round to fitting my new Motobatt today, yes i thought, i will go for a run but..............no feckin chance still wouldnt start and just as slow at turning over. Finally got it started by jumping it off the car but it wasnt the battery that was wrong !! Went for a run and the feckin alternator siezed and snapped the belt !!No wonder the engine was slow to turn over :rob Battery ran out dash went blank and i was left me stranded. Thank fuck for mobile phones and BMW Warranty :blast Bike is being recovered to Clarks of Dundee on Monday. Not a very good start to my BMW career.............:blagblah
Anyone heard of this happening before ? ive done a search and cant find anything re the Alternator itself.

It's not uncommon, crashteshdummy and rick both had seized alternators on their 1200's, search the forum for others.

They run at high revs on grease lubed bearings. Unfortunately its out of sight out of mind. Better get mine checked they have 37K under the wheels.

on the plus side there are bloody thousands out there that have never had an issue:thumb

just pot luck you got a dodgy one :thumb

Loaded onto a recovery truck this morning for its journey to J Clarks Dundee for warranty repair..........................warranty has paid for itself already :blast
