if its as good as the pics look, you aint done too bad

Depends if you want it or not:blast Looks good though:)

I do want it just didnt think i would win it but i suppose if you leave your add to finish at silly oclock on christmas morning you should not get a decent bid:thumb
The pics looks great and yes it runs very well so think its bargain of the year.:aidan

I have got a 91 model, identical except slightly different paint which I bought as a commuter/Winter hack in Feb this year. They are great fun and I have done several thousand miles on it and even took it up to Scotland in June. The only problem has been a rectifier (common problem with these) which also cooked the battery. Apart from that it has been great. More fun than the GS on B roads and handles surprisingly well. I have Avon Distanzias on mine and they have been good in wet and dry.
If used every day it fires up instantly, but if left for more than 3 days it takes a bit of churning (to get the fuel through I reckon) so keep the battery well charged on an optimate.
They are also prone to using a bit of oil. Mine uses 250ml every 400 miles I reckon.
The oil filler is awkward to get at as it is `oil in frame`. One of the funnels with a long bendy tube works best. Be careful when filling as it does not take much to go from bottom to top marks on the dipstick. If you check the forums you will find all sorts of weird and wonderful ways people check their oil level. I have found that doing it with the engine cold having sat in the garage overnight is as good as any. I have always checked it with the bike upright out of habit, but I assume as the dipstick is on the centreline of the bike it should not matter if it is done on the sidestand.
The bike is happiest sitting at 70ish. Get much over 75 and it starts to feel like it is putting too much stress on the motor (I tend to be a bit over sypathetic to my engines mind!)
I found the standard screen to be a bit low. Not wanting to fork out for a proper taller screen on a cheapo bike I have cut the sides of an old Shoei helmet visor and bolted it to the top of the screen. It works a treat and makes a surprising difference when cruising at high speed.
Mine came with a few mods.;-
Renthal bars (Very comfy)
Produro silencer (nice noise with a good pop on over-run)
The bike you have bought was advertised on ebay a few times over the last couple of months. I must say it looks nice (don`t want to sell the engine bars do you?!). I had asked the vendor a few pertinent questions about the bike back in November but the answers they came back with made me think they were a bit thick to be honest so I wasn`t willing to take a punt as it was so far away. My loss is your gain I hope. I bet you will end up using it more than you think.:beerjug:

Thanks Mark for the Tips I will no doubt be asking a few more tips once i get a bit further down the road with it but I do agree about the owner not very easy to deal with but hopefully i have got the deal of the year.

Well we collected it today and i could not get it in the trailer quick enough.....
only fault i can find so far is the brakes are rubbing but its been in the garage for over a month so think the first job is calipers off and clean up and lubricate.
Bodywork is very straight and no rot at all.
Think i will be looking for some pannier rails very soon.

I think i might change my screen name to Dick Turpin lol :augie

Glad you are happy with your purchase. Sounds like you have got a good one. The earlier ones look much better IMHO as the paint schemes got a bit crappy later on.
You will struggle to find `off the shelf`pannier rails I am afraid. Givi no longer make them. I think H&B do still list them but it would probably cost you almost as much as the bike if you were to buy new with the luggage. I have NEVER seen any come up second hand on ebay (and I always check ebay for parts, every day). Because I already owned some Givi panniers I ended up fitting a second hand VFR750 GIVI wingrack to mine. It is a bit of a botch but it has worked since April this year including my Scotland trip so I guess it must be safe!

Mate had one which was an absolute dog. It looked like it had done the Dakar, been dragged through a couple brick walls ... and then he decided on a trip around Europe. :thumb2

Despite the zero maintenance only the cylinder gaskets went.

You've got the dual disk brakes version, even better. :thumb2
