Mate of mine runs a well-known bike touring company in South Africa. He pinged me a note last week about an American client who had a head-on with a bakkie (pick-up) on a gravel road. The rider was on the wrong side of the road...
Was there a white painted centre line on said gravel road? A mates, mates, mate asking.

The Yank was probably too used to the native BDR and the great outdoors, with nobody around for miles and/or hours on end.

Of course, no line buttony of the gravel roads in Southern Africa are major "highways" with plenty of fairly fast moving traffic. Said bod was lucky to survive this one.

Easy to conclude bakkie was on the correct side (left) and bike was not...

Being Africa, the Bakker will be back out on duty in no time at all.

not sure about the Adventure (with capital A) bike though. It’ll probably be de-parted or temporerally spared :D
