If I want to listen to music via a Zumo 550, along with guidance instructions, but not a 2-way phone connection, what would be the easiest / cheapest option for headphones / connection?

I assume a wired headset would be better than bluetooth, but is there such a big difference?

I have a Schuberth C2, has anyone fitted headphones only and are the earplugs easy to fit?

Cheers!

bluetooth on a zumo is only mono unless you fit a bloothtooth stereo adaptor out of the 3.5mm jack on the Zumo mount

maybe :nenau
a set of standard autocom speakers.
velcro backed, slim, good up to 'National limits' / but if you go faster quality deteriorates and a lot will depend on your lid/head interface anyway.
standard size - 3.5mm i think.
adaptors to 2.5mm available.

just a cheap(ish) thought - 'plug and play' anyhow. :nenau

hth.

Music quality from the Zumo on the standard Autocom speakers is pants...

The only way to get quality sounds is decent ( expensive ) in ear monitors ( like Q-jays) and an ipod- a- like player.

IMHO :comfort

JVC do a spongey earplug thing, which works okayish. Basically the headphones go into a spongy earplug like thing. Cheap fix at £20. Next up is the Scala headsets or smilar - I have got one, rarely use it because I have an Autocom, which I keep coming back to. I am trying custom made earplugs (ears filled up with mastic at a motorcycle show and moulds taken) which a mate of mine swears by but these were £120 trade price!

Here you go
i had a set of these until i went for the UE in ears..

i have now sorted for a wireless connection..

I use a £10 stereo blue tooth transmitter into the 3.5mm jack and it fixes to the mount via velcro strip.
The in ears plug into a Sony BT receiver which sits neatly inmy jackets internal ( napolen pocket)

hey presto sounds and no flapping, irritating, cumbersome cables

I suppose i could use the phone with this providing i was stationary... ideal for a quick return call etc... ( needs to be sationary so i can extricate the Sony bit from my pocket... The Sony has a built in Mic. its original use was for handsfree blah /blah via a mobile phone

I have Schuberth C2.

UE monitors, connected through the Autocom to an ipod, are the only way to go. Prior to getting the Autocom I had the UEs plugged directly into the ipod - superb noise attenuation and sound quality. Whilst I have no experience of how an ipod compares to other mp3 players, I am in no doubt that the UE monitors are just wonderful - certainly No.1 in my list of accessories, way ahead of anything from Touratech, Wunderlich (both of whom have supplied me with good stuff). Certainly not cheap, but worth every penny. Only decent helmet (which you already have) and clothing should have higher priority.

Right, some good info chaps, thanks. Here's what I'm now thinking....feel free to tell me my thought processes are arse.

I can get a pair of UEs, but I'll need to go the budget route and probably accept the sound quality won't be brilliant, then plug them into either the Zumo or my Nokia E71, both of which can hold and play music.

But if plugged into the phone I'll need to charge it as I go. I put a cigarette lighter socket on the bike a while ago and I'm wondering if I can just connect the phone with a car charger and leave it connected when riding or will I have to charge the phone when parked up?

If I order a set of UEs, can I get them sent to anyone who's going to Tipp, for me to collect from them there?

So, as usual I ask for advice, get plenty of it...all good, then do something completely different. I just bought an Autocom Active-Duo 200 from someone of this parish, which I hope will be a little of what I want and a bit more. For 45 beer vouchers it seemed about right I reckon.

Anyone disgreeing and wanting to tell me I'm stupid should please refrain.
Anyone agreeing and wanting to tell me what a brilliant solution this is, please go right ahead.
