Skid (bash) plate recommendations?

Any recommendations or experience on skid plates for the GS? Bmw and touratech are about same price. 2mm for bmw and I think 5mm for touratech. I'm keen for low mass option but not if it folds on the first tree I cross !
Bmw looks better but I'm guessing touratech more functional.

If you get the BMW version and it fails, you may have a easier argument claiming it was not fit for purpose.

I'm swaying that way if it fits with the touratech crash bars - any one have that combo ?
