Cuirrently have virgin media with all the trimmings - all TV channels and virgin+, 20mb broadband and all phone calls free.
I am, however, getting a bit fed up with frequent siezings of the set top box and slowness of TV add-ons.

I would like to keep my telephone and broadband services with virgin media but change to Sky for my TV - I'd need all the packages including all movies and all sports. I'd also want a sky+ box and also 2 standard set-top boxes for other rooms.

My questions are....
  • do you think that the sky TV service is better than virgin?
  • I'm please with virgin customer services - is sky as good?
  • do they fit all wires/dish etc?

Thank you in advance :thumb2

I have Virgin for my phone and internet as well but I would never use them for TV as they just cant compete on choice. Sky customer service is top notch and in the UK (not far from me as it happens) and yes they will fit all cabling and dish so long as you arent too high up like in a block of flats. You would be as well going for HD as the box is free at the mo and since your needing any room they will do the install for free as well. As well as the dish service you will also get sky player (over the internet if you dont know) for anything you subscribe to for free. There is currently something like 400 movies on there at the mo as well as a whole load of other programs. By the way I am thinking about moving my internet and phone over to them as well as its only £10 a month for them with sky on proper unlimited internet which I am currently paying nearly £50 for from virgin which isnt unlimited.

I changed from Sky to Virgin in Nov, had the lot....HD box, XL package, phone and tinternet which is now sooo much quicker cause of fibre optic cable, also you don't pay extra for HD on Virgin.
With all the catchup and TV choice available plus BBC iplayer etc IMHO it's much better than Sky...and cheaper!!!!:thumb2

Bin your tv and get back to reality......it will hurt for a week, but you'll feel oh so much better in a month :)

50 channels of crap ?

Bin it :thumb

I have no personal experience but my daughter and husband used Virgin for a couple of years for TV and broadband. They found it unreliable and eventually when they lost both TV and Broadband Virgin could not send anyone to fix it for two weeks. They then cancelled their subscription and ordered Sky - which was installed and running inside three days and the subscription is less.

I have no cable access at home so have always used Sky. When the box stopped working outside warranty I thought I would just use Freeview. When I phoned Sky to cancel the subscription and told them I did not use it enough to justify paying for repairs they immediately offered to upgrade me from basic Sky to Sky Plus for free with no additional subscription. They also did the installation on the next Sunday morning so I didn't need to take time off work.

The only downside I have found is my Broadband gets really slow in the evenings.
