looking at a new textile jacket but no matter what the make is or how much they cost the sleeve cuff seems to be very small and is very difficult to get winter gloves underneath . any reccomendations

Rukka have a great double cuff system. Works a treat.
If the zips, d-rings, Velcro and other Chinese bits hold together.

with your sleeves under your glove cuffs when its pissing down the rain runs down your arms and into the gloves soaking the inside ,as I found on a eight hour ride touring scotland years ago

The reason why you will struggle to find wider cuff's is because gloves should be worn outside, less water gets in this way when riding.
Thats why they have the tightening strap on the gloves wrist so it creates a tighter fit to reduce the amount of water running down when you stop.

Always have my gloves under the cuff, never had a problem with water ingress.

Short cuff and gloves in.........anything else just seems wrong (to me)
That's because, as any fule kno, gloves out is the one, sure-fire way to get wet hands...
