Half way round our tour of Aus and at 14,000kms, it's time to replace the trusty Hiendenau K60's. When I fitted them I used Ultraseal, (which I don't know if it's worked or not), the net result being no punctures despite some pretty rough gravel roads.

I've therefore bought a bottle of Slime to use when I fit the new K60's tomorrow; anyone know the specific volumes to install in each tyre?

Ta in advance, Hambo

its all depends on how much you have bought. i put between 4 - 6 oz in each tire. it normally recomends what to put in on the side of the bottle. i only use the slime as a temp fix, as i carry a plugger kit to fix the hole. and you should be able to see coloured little marks in your tyres, the dye is there so you can spot them, and look on the inside of your mud guards for traces of the dye as well

Thanks for the reply. Upon removing the tyres today it is apparent the Ultraseal has eroded the rim, leaving pockparks worse than an unwashed teenager. I'm not impressed and will not be using any such goo again!

i've never used ultraseal before, the stuff i use is called oko (i think) its green stuff with dark green bits in. didn't have any problems with it on my sports bike wheels, i'll post up again when i take the tyre of the gs and fined out if its done anything to the rim.

Slime didn't help my puncture :( but when I took it in for repair the garage were not impressed at all at having to wash the wheel tyre etc to get all the slime out and I think they will be charging for this service in the future !!
