Yesterday I noticed while overtaking a car that the clutch appeared to be slipping - when I tried to repeat it 2 min later all was ok but then the problem repeated itself several times until I got home. I only have 22000km on the bike and it ran out of warranty last week !!!
Had visions of big bucks to come !! Possibly a rear seal etc.
To cut a long story short I did a search on AdvRider forum and there was a post recently of the handguard on the LHS being deflected down causing the end of the clutch handle to get wedged against it and voila a slipping clutch. Initially I discarded this idea until I remembered that I had taken a fall a month ago on that side (at a stop my leg slipped and we fell over) so examined my bike and sure enough there was the problem - the handguard had twisted down and the tip of the clutch lever was resting against the guard. Today I took the bike for a ride and the problem is solved.
So just a warning out there - if your clutch starts slipping take a look at the handguard. It is not in any manual ! Some have had this problem without having previously taken a fall - the guard just slips down !!
Cheers
